Heading out of town.

Well the day is finally here, we are heading down to Sarasota for Emily & Paul's wedding. I am very excited about getting to spend time with my friends & family. It will be hard work, but well worth it. We are planning on doing some landscaping, and of course the flowers for the wedding. We have been talking about landscaping the front of their house for a couple of years now. My mom & dad are bringing up the plants from Homestead and friends are going to help plant. Here is a before picture.

Not much there, but wait until you see the after picture. The hard part will be for Emily & Paul to keep it watered and looking nice.

Landscaping you ask????? I didn't know you did landscaping. I grew up in the foliage business. My parents have a plant nursery in Homestead. My undergraduate degree from The University of Florida is in Environmental Horticulture with a Masters degree in Environmental Horticulture Marketing & Management, so even though wedding flowers are my passion, my roots (get it) are with plants. So this weekend I get to do both, as well as take a few extra days to play with Abbey at the beach.

Em & Paul's Coed Wedding Shower

The day is almost here. Emily & Paul are finally getting hitched. We went down to Sarasota a few weeks for their wedding shower. I was asked to provide some flowers. Em is a dear friend, and we have been through a lot together, and like all my brides I want to make sure she loves her flowers. So, I took it as an opportunity to make some sample centerpieces. Here is what I created. Her colors are assorted pinks & greens. This is the "taller" version.

Here is the "shorter" version. The only directions I have been given, is that she wants the vases to have a pedestal bottom. Having free reign over flower selection is sometimes harder, but usually well worth it.
The shower had a theme...donations to The Humane Society. There were many creative gifts give, as well as some great monetary donations.
I made had a little fun for the last arrangement, something to go with the theme of the shower.

Prom Time

We have two extended members of the family (Abbey's babysitters), who just went to their Senior Prom. I had the honor of doing their corsages. Maygen wore a gown of blue, with some sparkling crystals. I used delphinium to create her corsage & bout.

Here she is...
Bri's dress was a bold pattern of different shades of blue, white & lime green. She wanted a lot of bling in her corsage. I used green dendrobium orchids, teal ribbon & bling to create her corsage.
As a final touch we added some crystals to Bri's hair.
Here is Bri's completed look.

Rain Rain Went Away.

The rain went away for Stefanie & Andrew. Their rainy afternoon was just one of many we were to experience for the next week. I thought I'd add a few more pictured from their day. Here is Abbey modeling the flower girl flower crown.
And here is the flower girl.....what a cutie.
Here are the kissing balls we lined the aisle with. Thanks Theresa for making all 10 of them. We used white cushion mums, and for a touch of blue some spray roses, that were airbrushed.
Here is one of the groomsmen showing off his bouts, made of blue delphinium, and a salal leaf.
Here is the fantastic cake made by Jenny Wagner at Cakes by Jenny.
A candy bar was set up for guests to enjoy. It showcased Andrew & Stefanie's favorite candies.
Here is a final view of the ceremony site, with the dark clouds in the background. Luckily the shower was over quickly.

Rain Rain Go AWAY.

Stefanie & Andrew had a wet start to a wonderful evening at Haile Plantation Golf & Country Club. Their outside ceremony & reception was put on hold for about 15 minutes while the storm passed over. Here they are relaxing before the ceremony. What a great day for a young woman, who is even more beautiful inside.

Stefanie wanted a spectacular background for her vows. Her parents purchase this wonderful gazebo, which we got the honor to decorate.

Here it is with the floral pieces that Holiday made. See how some thoughtfully placed flowers help to accent the gazebo. Here comes Abbey running down the aisle.

A close up of the flowers at the top of the arch. Blue & white were the colors of the day. We used lily, hydrangea, roses, delphinium, larkspur, and others.

Imprintable Invitations

We sell imprintable invitations. Mainly for bridal or baby showers. In looking over our stock recently, I noticed we needed some new ones. Luckily a sales rep called, and wanted to set up an appointment with me & she handles companies that we weren't already buying from. So, I ordered a bunch of new fun stuff.
We have just received some new Baby Shower invitations from Paper Construction. They are super cute. We got them in pink& blue. Also in purple(not shown), in case the mom's favorite color is purple or if we don't know if the baby will be a boy or a girl. In real life they are about 4"X9.25". More to come as they arrive at the shop.

May Day Wedding Part 2

Tracy & Matt were the first ones to officially use our new arbor. The ballroom the ceremony was to take place in had one slight problem. An emergency exit door, with a huge red EXIT sign right smack dab in the middle of the wall. Tracey came to me with an idea she had for the ceremony site, and here is what we made.
On Thursday, we attached curly willow sticks to the front of the arbor, and hung material down the back. It covered up the EXIT sign, and made for a pretty background. On Friday we went down to deliver the rest of the flowers, and tucked pink flowers in the curly willow. Here is a close up of the arch, with a better view of the flowers. It was stunning (if I may say so, myself.) At the end of the night, it was a shame to take it down.

May Day Wedding!

Tracey & Matt chose May 1st to tie the knot. Pink, pink, and more pink was used, with black accents. I was able to get a few cute pictures, but can't wait to see the "real" ones. Here is Tracey chilling out, before the ceremony. I love the shoes. When we picked up some of the rentals at the end of the night Matt had changed into pink Converse shoes (wish I had my camera then).
The Bridal bouquet was pretty in pink and contained peonies, ranunculus, roses.
The Bridesmaids were similar in color to the brides' and were made with roses. The maid of honor (in the middle) also had a few peonies. Here is a special touch they had made for the aisle. Being an indoor ceremony the ladies from MaterPiece weddings had fun pinning the runner to the carpet, so it would not slip.

Special Table

We were asked to provide the decorations for a special table at The Bayou Bash. Something to stand out, and not look like any of the other tables. This table was to be auctioned off at the end of dinner for 10 guests to enjoy a special desert of truffles, champagne & strawberries, while the other items were being auctioned off. Since there was so much color used, I thought it would be good to go with a more neutral theme: white, cream & lime green. We used orchids, roses, hydrangea, hypericum, and carnations. Once the sun set, the table glowed from the use of LED lights we had in each vase.

A roaring good time

Here are some of the highlights from Haven Hospice's Bayou Bash 2009. This greeted guests as they arrived. We handed out Mardi Gras Beads, which hung from our black metal tree. To get the party started a jazz band strolled around.
Theresa & her husband Paul, enjoying the meal supplied by Harry's.
We supplied half of the centerpieces for the event. We worked around the event colors of Purple, Gold & Green. To do that we used: purple orchids, bells of ireland, soidago, monstera leaves & curly willow which supported Mardi Gras beads.
Here is the centerpieces supplied by Crevase Regency Florist.
Chad "Cracker" Johnson was the auctioneer for the evening.
To continue our support we provided balloons for the gaming tent.
Money is still being tallied, but the rumor is that we raised close to $300,000 with our event. Thank you to all who supported us with your work, donations and money.
